The Kaxinawá, also known as Huni Kuin, are an indigenous people who inhabit the Amazon region, on the border between Brazil and Peru. They belong to the Pano linguistic family and are known for their rich cultural and spiritual traditions.

The Kaxinawá call themselves Huni Kuin, which means "true men" or "people with known customs." They live mainly in the tropical forests of Acre state, Brazil, and in some areas of eastern Peru. The Kaxinawá population in Brazil is approximately 14,000 people, while in Peru there are about 2,400 individuals.

Their traditional knowledge includes hunting, fishing, gathering, and agricultural practices, as well as a deep understanding of the region's flora and fauna. They are also known for their shamanic ceremonies and spiritual rituals.
